A Brief History
Bethesda United Methodist Church was founded in 1915. During an early Sunday service, sparks from the wood burning stove ignited a fire, destroying the original house of worship. The present day structure was erected usuing lumber salvaged from an abandoned church. Over the years there have been multiple additions to the church. Four acres of the current site were purchased from the Hester family in 1936 with an additional five acres donated in 1944 by SAMWILKA, Inc. After years of being a five-point charge, Bethesda became a station church in 1999.
